Guy Cribb Wins UKWA Slalom Champs
Keen to see if he still had his slalom mojo, Guy Cribb showed up to the UK championships in Hove. Armed with only one board which he’d only sailed once before and some freeride rigs, after five full on ‘downwind slalom’ races in winds up to 25knots, Cribby won overall with two firsts and two seconds.
A pretty outstanding achievement for an ex pro racer who was a little ‘rusty’ to say the least having not sailed the kit before and not done a proper line start since 1996.
Guy said he was gutted not to win every race, losing the second and third races both at the final gybe by making very basic errors and the fourth race with a breakage. With a bit of race tuning and some race rigs, he’d be lethal again.
