Countdown to Animal WindFest Begins

Animal WindFest doubles-up as the south coast’s biggest beach party – 12th – 14th September 2008

The countdown has commenced to one of the UK’s most hotly anticipated watersport events – as the annual Animal WindFest returns to celebrate its 10th year of transforming the normally sedate Sandbanks beach into an adrenalin junkie’s wet dream.

 
With the title sponsorship once again provided by extreme sports brand, Animal, this year’s free three day event will run from 12th- 14th September with some of the world’s top windsurfing talent descending on the south coast to compete by day and unwind at the now legendary beach marquee parties by night.

Following a decade of relentless growth, WindFest has become an internationally recognised event but it’s rationale remains the same, to provide an unrivalled opportunity for any windsurfer to compete with the Pro’s and learn from them too – they’ll help with technique, style and approach.

To demonstrate that racing need not be all about expensive equipment and a fear of finishing last, in a new show feature Pryde Group UK have joined forces with the UKWA, the association that organises all forms of competitive windsurfing in the UK, to dispense expert advice, run free technique clinics – hosted by top national and international sponsored riders – provide product giveaways and to whet appetites for the leading brand’s latest kit with free demo’s.
 

The extreme sport comes courtesy of the professional and amateur competitions which take place throughout the weekend, including the JP NeilPryde Masterblaster Slalom Series 08. This competition offers a windsurfing experience not seen before; Masterblaster, Slalom, one buoy, two buoys, in and out, 2 laps and tag team to ensure this stand alone race is above all else FUN.
 

For the first time this year, ALL competitors will automatically be entered into a prize draw that will run throughout the three days offering TOP prizes from the UK’s leading importers; booms, sails, harnesses, masts, boards and more.

Still free to the public, Animal Windfest allows visitors to get a taste of the sports showcased as well as providing a key date for those in the industry to meet up and share some ‘quality’ time.

The annual event, which attracts approximately 10,000 people each year, will also feature a number of showcase events such as the Animal Relentless Bike Tour, a skate and BMX ramp and SUP (Stand Up Paddleboarding) as well as the all-time favourite, the wakeboard slider pool.
