John Hibbard at Datchet Watersports

A warm sunny evening was just what Datchet Watersports had been hoping for when they arranged for John Hibbard to come and run a Starboard & Tushingham demo evening on Thursday 3rd July. To get planing conditions as well was an added bonus!

A good turn-out ranging from Team 15 kids to more ‘experienced’ windsurfers saw all available kit on the water for the whole 2 hour evening session. Everyone got the chance to try out new boards and sails and have some fun on the water.

A barbeque followed with a few sundowners before everyone headed upstairs for a very entertaining presentation from John. There were even a few dinghy sailors, down for Datchet Watersport’s weekly “Watersports Social”, who stuck around and enjoyed the talk.

Mark Hollyoake, one of Datchet’s windsurfing Platinum Members commented, “Windsurfing can be quite a solo pursuit, as it’s difficult to hold a conversation while falling off a board! So it’s nice to have evenings like this when you can meet other windsurfers and put names to faces, etc…Great Stuff!”
