A few issues of the Boards 2013 Spring Summer Annual have been spotted at HQ and they’re looking good, even if we do say so ourselves. Magazines are being distributed as we type, so will be in shops by the end of the month. For those of you that have already subscribed the magazine will hit your doorstep very soon, if it hasn’t already, and if you haven’t already subscribed you can do so here.

Boards now catches up with our cover photographer, Col Leonhardt, and we share a little more of what you can expect inside this issue.
The Cover Shot
Peter’s a great all-round sailor, very much under-rated so at the start of this summer we decided to spend as much time as possible travelling to new spots and looking for refreshing photo opportunities.
Rottnest Island has the only real aqua coloured water close to Perth, it’s a place we’ve done heaps of photoshoots at before, including helicopters and boats so it’s a place I knew well and only 20 km off the coast of Perth.
The shot is easy, we do nearly all windsurfing shots as speed blurs now so it’s just about shooting non stop and you’ll get a few that are crackers.
I decided to go over in the boat early so we can do water shots before the heli arrived but forgot that I get seasick really bad so wasn’t feeling too good in the water. All heli shoots are well planned as the last thing you want is a time delay, so it went quite smooth. We made a call to the pilot at about 2 pm to head over so I got dropped off on the Island to make the 3 km walk to the airstrip. Just had to fly a little more cautiously for the first 10min till the seasickness wore off!
Thanks Col, now for some of our favourite pieces from the mag…
