5 of the Best Kids Sails

A new generation of kids are coming through our sport and luckily for them they now have equipment that helps them progress, rather than breaking their backs as it was in the ‘good old days’.

Boards takes a quick look at the best equipment on offer specifically designed for younger, lighter riders, starting with the best sails.

Kids/teenagers/young adults pay attention…it’s only 5 months ’til Christmas, if you start asking now Santa might be kind this year!

Goya Storm – Pro Kids – 2.5 to 4.0 m.

Designed in Maui these sails are awesome for any aspiring wavesailors, tried and tested by some of the best young rippers out there. You’ll be in great company using these sails as the likes of Bernd Roediger, Harley Stone (son of Josh Stone), Loick Lesauvages and Pablo Ramirez Bolanos have all come through the Goya youth team and been seen rocking these sails at one time or another.

More info on the Goya Storm.

Tushingham Dino – Junior – 2.0 to 4.5 m

A firm favourite in the UK, especially with any Team 15 riders, the Dino is a great all round sail. If you want to blast across the lake with your mates, try a bit of freestyle, venture to the coast or even try a race or two the Dino is a great sail for whatever you want to try!

More info on the Dino here.

North Sails Drive Grom – Crossover Kids – 1.0 to 3.5 m

Claims to ‘likely the most specialised kids sail on the market!’, a bold claim but with fully developed, extra light but durable mono-film could they be right? The Drive Grom looks pretty cool too, and comes with specialised masts and booms too.

More info on the Drive Grom here.

NeilPyde Dragonfly – Youth Performance – 1.5 to 3.5m.

The Dragonfly is designed for optimum performance for beginner through to advanced kids. With all the same development, features and appearance of the rest of the NP range having a Dragonfly will definitely make you stand out at the beach, for all the right reasons. If it’s good enough for Antoine Albeau, surely it’s good enough for you?

Gaastra Foxx – Kid Power – 2.2 to 4.0 m

The Foxx is another fantastic all round sail; from your first step on a board, to learning to gybe and even up to your first forward loop, the Foxx will be there. Light, easy to handle and built to last. This sail has it all.
