An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to work in the University of Southampton’s Sport and Wellbeing facilities, which are open to its students, staff and members of the wider community. These include the signature Jubilee Sports Centre, Wide Lane Sports’ Ground and the Watersports Centre. An extensive range of sport and leisure classes, courses and facilities are available to our customers from 07:00 to 22:00 every day of the week. We are looking for a sports professional to provide a consistently high quality sports and leisure service to our customers at our Watersports Centres and Sports Ground. This role requires the staff member to be the University’s Royal Yachting Association Chief Instructor and if possible British Canoe Union Technical Advisor. Expert knowledge in a chosen field of specialism in Watersports (e.g. Sailing, Powerboating, Windsurfing or Paddle Sports) is essential and it would be an advantage to have relevant supervisory experience in the fitness and leisure industry.

As well as working closely with the Assistant Service Delivery Manager on our provision of Watersports, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operations at our Wide Lane Sports Ground to include the line management of the staff working at our site.

This is a full time post working a set pattern of 35 hours a week which will include some weekend working. Due to the Unique Working Pattern, this role is also eligible for a 10% annual uplift on basic wage.

The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated and organised Sport and Wellbeing team responsible for ensuring safe and efficient daily operation of the facilities, meeting accredited standards, and ensuring that our customers are advised or supported during their leisure activities, classes, courses or instruction. You should have proven experience in handling a diverse range of situations in a customer focussed environment.

As well as core benefits including maternity, paternity and adoption leave and sickness benefits, other benefits include access to arts and culture facilities, childcare vouchers, a range of staff discounts and flexible working policies.
