Less than 2 weeks to go……to the largest sailing event in the world!
Bart’s Bash – 21st September 2014
The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation is planning a monster sized attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest sailing event in the world ever, which they are calling Bart’s Bash.
The idea is to have a mass participation sponsored race run in a 24 hour window across the world. There will be yachts racing in China and America’s Cup boats racing in San Francisco and we are planning to have dinghies racing at Bray Lake.
There is still time register!
Please click on the link below and follow the instructions. Once you have registered please inform the centre. We still have a few boats available to hire for the event, book your boat now to save disappointment. The charge will be the hire of the boat for an hour, but you will have the use of the boat for the duration of the event. If you have your own boat you are also more than welcome to come down and join us, please let us know if you are. There will be £10 race entry fee per person to pay on the day. The BBQ will be £8 for adults and £5 for juniors.
The day will start with a race briefing between 9:30 and 10am. There will be two races followed by a BBQ lunch.
Get Ready to Race!
We are running two race training sessions to get you ready to race on the day. The adult training session will be held on Saturday 13th September 10-12. The junior training session will be run during the usual junior club slot on Sunday 14thSeptember 10-12. There are limited spaces on these training sessions, so book you space now!
For the club to be part of the Guinness World Record attempt we need a minimum of 25 entrants so get entering and spread the word!
