Last-minute to the Isle of Lewis

When you read that headline there can only really be one of two or three people in the UK whose names spring to mind. This time Steve ‘Thorpy’ Thorp was the one to make his way to the far reaches of the UK, but he didn’t go alone. In fact UK wave champion Ross Williams, plus Jamie Hancock, Arthur Sadler, Aleksy Gayda and Jack Hunt made up the crew that found their-selves sharing waves with one of the UK’s finest examples of last-minute storm chasing.

“From my point of view it was bit of a nightmare trip. No conditions on the first day, super light on the second/third, then overpowered on 4m for my last day (most of the pics were as I left and it was becoming more manageable). I had sailed once in 2 months, had a bad back and a dying dog so flew home and left the boys to it. It got a lot better…” – Thorpy.

On that point, we are fully aware of a video being produced by Jamie Hancock and hope to bring this to a screen near you very soon. Stay tuned for that, in the meantime enjoy a selection of Thorpy’s shots that he managed to capture just before he left.
