COSTA BRAVA PWA FREESTYLE QUALIFIER PREVIEW
Anything Could Happen!
The PWA world tour will shortly be arriving in the Bay of Roses on the
Costa Brava coast of Spain for a 25,000 Euro freestyle qualifier. The
event will take place between the 20th and the 25th of May with
registration on the 20th and official action commencing on the 21st.
Roses, in the North of Costa Brava is one of the best areas in Spain for
windsurfing and other watersports. The sandy Bay, 12 km across, enjoys
regular winds throughout the year, with predominant thermal breezes in the
summer and the infamous Tramontana winds in Spring Winter and autumn. When
the Tramontana sweeps in, entire weeks of 30-knot winds are not uncommon.
Past PWA events have seen both thermal and Tramontana winds at this time
of year so during the event anything could happen!
Roses is also an important area for Spanish tourism, with a range of
campsites, hotels and apartments close to the water. The area abounds in
tourist attractions, which include, beautiful parks, fishing villages and
areas of historical interest.
Costa Brava is the perfect freestyle location and this year will be the
fifth time the PWA have returned to its superb beaches. The mixture of its
excellent conditions combined with its outstanding natural beauty make it
one of the favorite stopovers on the tour for PWA regulars.
Following the 10,000 Euro freestyle super session at Vargas earlier this
month we have already seen a sneak preview of some of the amazing new
moves that have been developed over the winter season. Costa Brava is
likely to be yet another showcase for the latest amazing trickery from the
best in the business on the PWA world tour. The stage is all set for a
mind-blowing week of freestyle action&Bring it on!
