SAM NEAL NOMINATED FOR SPORTS PERSONALITY AWARD
With the youth of today getting so much generally bad press, it’s great to see the media acknoledge them when they do well, as in a recent story in a Yorkshire paper, which ran the headline:
Ninety Reasons For Pride In Young People
One of those young people was Sam Neal, a JP/Neil Pryde rider. Sam was nominated for an award in the Young Sporting personality of the year for this Yorkshire region. Setup by the Rotary club and the Skipton Building Society, competition for this award was high. The aim of the award was to recognise young talent and congratulate these youngsters on their contributions to the sport locally. Up against Sam was a large range of nominees, including national athletes and GB Squad team players.
Windsurfing got a high profile at the event. The organisers were really impressed at the sport’s capacity to give youngsters that adrenaline rush that so many youths crave. Sam came a respectable second place, pipped to the post by a GB team triple jumper.
Sam said, “I was really pleased to even get a nomination for this prestigious award. To see windsurfing on the map locally and coming second is great. It has been a fantastic occasion….. a great credit for us youngsters. So many VIP people at the presentation ceremony talked of the good that youths do, and it felt good to be part of it.”
Sam is sponsored by JP, Neil Pryde, Animal, FCWatersports, Pryde UK, , Surfkraft.
