POLKERRIS BEACH LAUNCH

Summer weather finally arrived on cue for the launch of the new
centre at Polkerris Beach near Fowey in Cornwall. The sunshine on Bank Holiday Monday attracted crowds of local people and visitors to the beach, as well as several BOARDS readers, who were greeted with a display of the new facilities and an opportunity to meet the team. The launch coincided with National Windsurfing Week.

On the beach, instructor George Shillito delivered a windsurfing lesson to a group of children and dozens of people signed up for windsurfing lessons when the centre formally starts watersports tuition, later in the month.

Commenting on a successful day, centre owner/manager Bob Shillito said “Lots of people came over for a chat. Clearly there is a big demand for windsurfing in the area which the existing facilities around here struggle to meet. We had a terrific day, the beach looked great and everyone seemed to have a good day. What more can you ask for – apart lots more people windsurfing as soon as possible!”

Polkerris Beach are offering tasters, courses and complete accommodation and windsurfing packages throughout the summer, for windsurfers visting Cornwall.
