TBT – 8 Riders Under 18 That Will Blow Your Mind

It’s Thursday so we’re throwing back to 2013; were we right about the up and coming youth?!

Bernd Roediger

Whilst us mere mortals might never reach the technical heights of the likes of Koester and Fernandez, it’s incredible to watch what windsurfers at the top of the game can do.

But who will be next? Koester’s not exactly over the hill just yet, but who’s out there that’s even younger and could be pushing for the podium over the next few years?

Boards has found 8 riders that might just manage it…

For sure there are many more youngsters out there including some incredible British groms, but to continue our kids series this week we’re looking outside of the UK to get inspiration from some of the best kids in the world.

Here’s our pick of the most inspiring under 18 year olds…

1. Bernd Roediger – Age 16.

This Maui local boy is well known for beating Kevin Pritchard in the final of the Maui AWT in 2012. As he’s looking to travel more he will soon be a threat outside of his local break, too.

2. Harley Stone – Age 14.

Another Maui local and son of windsurfing legend, Josh Stone. With windsurfing in his blood there was no way Harley wasn’t going to grow up ripping.

3. Moritz Mauch – Age 17.

A Pozo local, who recently won the junior competition at the PWA and would be a threat to any riders in the main fleet too.

4. Loick Lesauvage – 13 years old.

Born in France in 2000, Loick is one of the youngest and most incredible riders to watch. This Maui video shows just how much potential he has.

5. Noah Voecker-Roche – Age 13.

Another 13 year old that will have you hitting the repeat button on any video you watch. Living between the Canaries and Lanzarote gives Noah the perfect opportunity to work on both his freestyle and wavesailing.

6. Tim Van Dam Sanchidrián – Age 13.

A resident of El Medano, Tim has just signed to the Starboard team through mentor Dany Bruch. We bet one day he will be following in Bruch’s footsteps and taking some top finishes on the PWA tour.

7. Arthur Arutkin – Age 16.

The younger brother of PWA competitor Alice Arutkin, Arthur is already proving he is as, if not more, talented than his race winning sister. A recent edition to the Fanatic team, his time with Klaas Voget and Victor Fernandez is already showing in his riding.

8. Justin Denel – Age 17.

Another young rider with an older sibling already on the tour, Justin’s brother Jules is well known for his crazy style and full on jumping style. It looks like some of this ballsy attitude has rubbed off on Justin too!
