Homegrown Talent – 6 Up and Coming Riders To Watch Out For

Homegrown Windsurfing Talent - 5 Riders To Watch Out For

Luke Smith

DOB: 29-01-93

Years windsurfing: 10

For the past 3 years I have been working abroad as an instructor for Neilson holidays so haven’t had the opportunity to compete. However the next time I spend a summer in England I will get on the comps for sure!

I love windsurfing because:

It’s the coolest sport there is! Windsurfing never gets boring, there are always more challenges and opportunities, and so many disciplines to keep you entertained.

I’m currently out in Ortakent, Turkey with Neilson Holidays. So my plan for the rest of the season is to windsurf everyday and keep instructing as well as I can. Hopefully by the end of the season I will have plenty more tricks under my belt and as many people will have progressed with their windsurfing from my tuition. After that its back to England and fingers crossed for another windy winter!

My future aims are to keep windsurfing and training as hard as I can with my freestyle and see where it can take me. Hopefully either some further instructor opportunities or some further personal windsurfing oppertunies will present themselves and I will be able to continue living this lifestyle. For next year I will also stay instructing here in Ortakent, its super windy and teaching here is the best job ever! Im super happy to have been taken on by Tushingham Sails and I hope to enjoy windsurfing their sails for the next many years to come!
