It is just one year since Mikey Clancy passed away and today, we are sure, the windsurfing community will yet again take a moment to remember this young, talented windsurfer. Here, Mikey’s father reflects on the past year, hoping that the death of his young son has not been in vain.
RIP Mikey.
“He was a windsurfer with real passion and ability. During the past year his friends have paid tributes in various way to honour Mikey. His parents, Bernie and Michael, and brother have scattered his ashes into the seas of Ireland and the Canary Islands, where Mikey sailed.
“Many trophies have been named after Mikey and windsurfers have spoken of his loss at various PWA, BWA, IWA and the Red Bull Storm Chase events.
“His close social friends raised €21000 for The Pieta House…Mikey Clancy charity. His family were indeed consoled by the kindness shown by everyone at their loss of beautiful Mikey.
“Remember he is watching you from on high.
“If you are troubled or in need in life there is help out there and let time heal your woes. Seasons greetings and raise a glass for Mikey.
Many thanks,
Michael. Mikey’s dad.”
