The first ever Weymouth Windsurfing and Kitesurfing festival, held over the
weekend of 7-8 April, turned out to be a great success. The opportunity to see
the latest goodies on display in a large hangar (ex Portland Naval Base), and
then try them out on the water meant a steady stream of visitors throughout
the weekend, with the added attraction of some Formula Windsurfing racing going
on and a very impressive kitesurfing contest too. The chilly NW winds were a
little less than ideal, but on the whole the event was considered a great success,
and will almost certainly become part of the annual calendar.
