On the third day of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Portimão Wojtek Brzozowski (POL-10, Starboard, Neil Pryde) extended his lead. The competitors had to wait the whole day until the wind finally got strong and consistent enough for Racing. This time the wind blew almost sideshore from the right with 9 to 15 knots. Again Wojtek Brzozowski took advantage of a perfect start and lead the fleet after the first round followed by his Polish team mate Michael Polanowski (POL-16, Starboard, Severne Sails) and Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG-3, F2, Neil Pryde). On the second lap the “Italian Stallion” Andrea Cucchi (ITA-1, Starboard, Neil Pryde) and Ross Williams (GBR-83, Starboard, Gaastra) managed to pass the racing expert from Argentinia. But Wojtek Brzozowski was unbeatable today leaving Michal Polanowski the second place in this race.
After three days and five races with one discard the Formula Windsurfing World Champion of 2000, Wojtek Brzozowski is dominating the event with three victories and a total of 6,1 points. On the second position follows Gonzalo Costa Hoevel from Argentina. He didn’t win a race so far but his solid performance granted him 12,0 points which ensured his place on the podium. Only 0,7 points behind follows Ross Williams with one race victory and a total of 12,7 points in front of Michal Polanowski with 22,0 points who moved up several positions due to his second place today. The top-5 is completed by Davide Beverino (ITA-3, Starboard, Neil Pryde) with 22,7 points who lost a place today but still can be proud about his best Windsurfing Euro-Cup result so far.
For tomorrow the forecasts predict the same wind as today so we might see an exciting final if the wind kicks in in time. The skippers meeting is set for 09:30 with the first possible start at 10:00. The last possible start is at 16:00.
