Spirits are up, but winds are still down.
Conditions on Bonaire did not permit any competition today unfortunately. Winds appeared to be increasing during the day, but as it turned out it wasn’t enough. Several riders did go out in the light winds to practice various non-planing tricks. Kiri Thode (NB-61, Starboard/ Gaastra) led the way with seemingly effortless gekko’s in all sorts of variations. Other sailors on the water giving the crowd a light breeze treat were Choco Frans (NB-6, F2) and Swedish girls Anna Jonsson (S-78) and Emma Johansson (S-37, Fanatic).
Other riders took the time out to relax on Lac Bay’s paradise beach, exchanging tips and tricks on new moves or talking to fans and press. Choco Frans (NB-6, F2) shared his views on the contest and his chances, while Ronald Mayer (NB-0) revealed the story behind yesterday’s biggest new move, the Cana Brabu. Both items can be found on www.pwaworldtour.com in the day 1 news section.
It’s another fresh day tomorrow, with forecasts looking good for a morning session. The riders assemble again at 0900, so visit www.pwaworldtour.com on time for the latest developments as we pick the contest back up right where we left it. High.tvhas video footage of yesterday’s heats online as of today, so make sure to check it out.
