The first day of competition of the Lanzarote Costa Teguise PWA Grand Slam 2005 passed without official competition. The wind did increase in the course of the day to the point where the race committee decided to give the first Super X heats a go. As the riders were out on their 7.0s in the holding pattern at the startline, the wind proved to be too fickle to start the contest. Consequently, the start was put on hold waiting for the conditions to improve, but after forty-five minutes of wind going up and down, the riders were called back into the spectator filled beach. Unfortunately, the wind never reached contest strength again today. Not to worry though, as the wind is predicted to fill in tomorrow gradually picking up strength in the course of the week. The atmosphere on the beach of Las Chucharas is relaxed, with lots of spectators crowding together to see the world’s best windsurfers in action. Tomorrow the Lanzarote Costa Teguise PWA Grand Slam 2005 action continues with the second day of Super X.
