STIMOROL ENGADINWIND / IFCA FREESTYLE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY 5

IFCA Freestyle World Championships – Karin Jaggi new Freestyle World Champion!

SWISS DOUBLE VICTORY – 15th World Champion title and at the same time the first World Champion title in her own country for Karin Jaggi SUI. Laure Treboux SUI is celebrated as Vice World Champion.

Alex Humpel AUT wins the Freestyle World Championship in the master’s category. The tension increases – who will win in the men’s category of the IFCA Freestyle World Championships?

After an extremely successful contest day, the expected maloja wind did not arise enough today. Because of the missing wind the second run of the IFCA Freestyle World Championship as well as the European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT) had to be postponed to tomorrow. Besides the racemanagement decided that only the men’s category would race the second run. Therefore the two new World Champions, in the women’s and the master’s category, are given.

The lead of Karin Jaggi after yesterday’s first contest day of the IFCA Freestyle World Championship was counted for the final result. Karin Jaggi SUI wins the IFCA Freestyle World Championship and herewith reaches her goal – her 15th World Champion title and at the same time the first World Champion title in her home country. As second and Vice World Champion is placed Laure Treboux SUI. On the third place is Yoli Freites de Breandt from Venezuela.

The master’s category is won by Alex Humpel AUT. Today he is celebrated as new Freestyle World Champion in the master’s category. Vice World Champion is Roger Paul SUI and on the third place Mario Ballabio SUI.

Tomorrow there will be the second run of the men’s category of the IFCA Freestyle World Championship and the European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT). Yesterday the jury and the spectators were astonished by breath-taking jumps and moves like I-Slides and Chachos. After an exciting contest day Normen Günzlein GER, followed by Andre Paskowski GER, Andreas Olandersson SWE and Kevin Mevissen NED, were positioned as serious candidates for the World Champion title. Will Normen Günzlein be able to defend his position and win the Freestyle World Champion title?

Today again there was great action in the event village. Various showacts and a widely culinary offer guaranteed a varied entertainment. The world’s best acropilots of the slow flyers showed again their outstanding abilities and the most important surf-brands presented the latest trends in materials and techniques. Tonight the party takes place in the Bar Püf in Silvaplana. The Party Highlight will be on Saturday, August 20th. The Stimorol Engadinwind Party on the Mountain Corvatsch has already gained cult status. On more than 2’200 meters over sea level DJ’s and special acts will heat up the party atmosphere and together with the windsurf world stars the crowd will be rocking until the break of dawn.
