STIMOROL ENGADINWIND / IFCA FREESTYLE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS – DAY 6

IFCA Freestyle World Championships – After Karin Jaggi SUI – Normen Günzlein GER, followed by Andre Paskowski GER and Andreas Olandersson SWE, is celebrated as new Freestyle World Champion and winner of the European Freestyle


Pro Tour Stop in the Engadine.


After yesterday’s Swiss double victory in the women’s category the second run of the men’s category of the IFCA Freestyle World Championship and the European Freestyle Pro Tour was scheduled today. Due to the bad weather conditions the race management was unfortunately forced to cancel the starting attempts. Thus the two contests have officially been finished today at 3 p.m. and therefore the new Freestyle World Champion is given with Normen Günzlein GER.


Normen Günzlein from Germany could hold his position and is celebrated today as new Freestyle World Champion. On the second place and thus Vice World Champion is Andre Paskowski GER, followed by Andreas Olandersson SWE. Parallel to the World Championships the results also counted for the ranking of the European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT). Consequently Normen Günzlein GER is not only celebrated as new Freestyle World Champion, but also as winner of the EFPT-tour stop in the Engadine (see results freestyle men).


Today’s eventday is not over yet. Tonight there will be the official price giving ceremony on the occasion of the legendary Stimorol Engadinwind.com Party on the mountain Corvatsch. On the occasion of this Cult-party the solemnly price giving of the IFCA Freestyle World Championships and the European Freestyle Pro Tour takes place. In the following, on more than 2’200 meters over sea-level, DJ’s and special acts will heat up the party atmosphere and together with the windsurfing world stars the visitors will rock until thee break of dawn.


Tomorrow, Sunday, a super session on the Lake Silvaplana is scheduled for the athletes. Thus everybody can fully enjoy world class freestyle windsurfing on the lake.


Already today the organisation committee looks back on an extremely successful Stimorol Engadinwind.com 2005. Christian Müller, OC-president, says: “Despite of the partly difficult weather conditions we could successfully finish all the races. Herewith a great “thank you” goes to all the participants, which contributed a lot to the successful holding of the Stimorol Engadinwind.com 2005.” The highest spectacle of water sports could this year again offer contests on the highest level. The athletes, the sponsors and the spectators are already looking forward to the Stimorol Engadinwind.com 2006 in the unique mountain scenery of the Upper Engadine.
