WINDSURFING – THE GAME
Windsurfing 2007 is a 3D-Simulation including many moves and racing techniques.
A demo version, screenshots and videos are available from www.windsurfing-the-game.com.
It’s the brainchild of Frenchman Jerome Six, an engineer at BMW in
In this first release of Windsurfing 2007 it is possible to sail against 4 other opponents under racing conditions. A wave-based game is planned for the future.
The game takes into account wind speed and direction, ability to ride upwind/downwind (equipment and sailors are different in these abilities) sea state (sailing on a lake or on flat water is faster than on open sea), and being in a wind hole (e.g. another sailor stealing your wind). Collisions are, of course, very much a part of the game.
Currently, the game has three Sailors, three types of kit, three locations and three game types. Equipment needs to be chosen according to the race type and place, e.g. ‘SuperX’ forces the player to jump at every buoy, giving turbo-bonus of different levels according to the difficulty of the jump. Possible jumps include hand-loose, table-top, forward, backward, body-drag, spock, and wymaroo, and to turn you can gybe, duck-gybe, power-gybe or tack.
Five different views are available: rear, mast, head, helicopter and centre.
Making a good score gets you entry to the Hall of Fame (in “Tough” difficulty-level only).
The game works under Windows XP with DirectX9, and you’ll need a graphics card supporting Vertex Shaders 1.0 or higher.
The game can be downloaded for free in Demo-Version, and the Full-Version costs
12.99 Euros (all currencies are accepted). This is a pretty good deal, considering that you get access to full support and all future updates, which are going to be a lot!
We’re just about to download ours – see you in the Hall of Fame folks!
