STUDENT WINDSURFING ASSOCIATION FESTIVAL

Student Windsurfing Association Festival 2006

20th-22nd October

350 students windsurfing, £150 raised for Surfers Against Sewage, 144 complete beginners, 80 instructors and helpers, 9 windsurfing companies, 5 kind sponsors, 1 holiday park, 1 Royal Yachting Association and 1 South West lake…were you at the SWA Festival ’05?

Following on from the rip-roaring success of last years event, initial details can now be exclusively released about the SWA festival ’06.  The event will again be held at Roadford lake with accommodation and social, including last year’s sensational band: I.D.Ology, at Bude Holiday Park on 20th-22nd October.

Welcoming a host of beginners into the sport, the SWA festival is designed to get people who’ve never even contemplated standing on a board before absolutely hooked.  However this year we also have an ulterior motive: alongside our dedication to beginners, we would like to redress the balance of the sexes in British windsurfing.

The Student Windsurfing Association boasts an almost equal ratio of women to men and in celebration of this we would like to announce this the year of the women.  Encouraging people who might be shy about competing, providing a network of support for those that do and rejoicing in the efforts made by everyone everywhere, it is time that those who can, do.  Further details to be announced, however rumour has it that female entrants will have more than most to shout about this October.

In groundbreaking fashion for a windsurfing event of this size, the SWA will also be continuing in its quest for a greener future by ensuring that the event is carbon neutral.  For more information please see www.climatecare.org.

Watch out for more information about the Student Windsurfing Association and we will release further details of the festival as soon as we can.  If you have any inquiries, would like to attend the event or get involved with the SWA in anyway then please do not hesitate to contact us.  For more information also check our website: www.studentwindsurfing.co.uk.
