FAT FACE NIGHT WINDSURF & NATIONAL WINDSURFING FESTIVAL

2nd & 3rd September 2006

FAT FACE, the UKWA, and the UK Windsurfing Industry have come together to create what will be the biggest recreational windsurfing event ever in the UK, for windsurfers of every age and ability. And for those just wanting to watch the action, a true spectacle will be on show on Saturday night.

Hayling Island is the venue, a long time favourite windsurfing spot and the site at Beachlands, right next to the Inn on the Beach, has been provided with the kind support of Havant Borough Council.

Fun racing for all levels, using the tried and tested, out and back, ‘master-blaster’ format will be run continuously and each race will have loads of great prizes. In fact, prizes even stretch to shops sending a team of three newcomers to racing. A windsurfing holiday for two is up for grabs for the shop owner sponsoring the winning team.

Every entrant will receive a goodie bag, but, even if you don’t fancy competing come along anyway and bring the family, there will be plenty to see and do and parking will be free of charge for all FAT FACE Festival competitors. Entry fee is just £20 for two days, that includes entry into any race you wish to compete in, free ticket to the party in the marquee, a free meal and booking onto the special beach clinics.

There will also be a chance to see and try the latest modern ‘learn to windsurf equipment’ on hand with qualified instructors and Fat Face Team Riders to take you through the sports basics.

As well as providing the prizes, all the major UK equipment importers will have their new 2007 kit on show for you to check out and try, with their top experts also on hand to answer all your questions. Most of windsurfing’s biggest ‘names’ will be at the FAT FACE Festival, from the technique gurus handing out their top tips to the leading UK Pro Windsurfers showing off the latest moves. These clinics will be running both days, and booking on entry will be required. Here’s the chance to meet and learn from Dave White, Peter Hart, Jem Hall, Simon Bornhoft and others to confirm.

The UKWA, our natioanl racing association is running the on-the–water programme. Race director will be Ceri Williams, and his team will be backed up by a fleet of support boats, there to help participants whilst sailing and ensuring rescue is required if needed. Power FM will be providing live music throughout the weekend and as at every proper windsurfing event there will be a HUGE PARTY !!!

As if all that isn’t enough, you will also see another UKWA UK EXCLUSIVE. A Flood-Lit Windsurfing Competition – ‘FAT FACE NIGHT WINDSURF’, the final stop of the 2006 FAT FACE NIGHT SERIES. It’s here where you will see World Cup competitors taking time out from the tour to show off their skills in a ‘supercross’ style event.

Alan Cross the event co-ordinator said “The ideas around this event originated from many individuals in our industry wanting to gather together windsurfers using the fantastic new freeride equipment, pitting their skills around a simple fun course that involves speed and gybing.  It is not about participating on high performance Speed or Formula equipment – because the courses wont suit this.  It is about having fun on the water, and maybe in the process developing a few more skills. The UKWA decided to put it on the calendar and since then more key sailors and industry sponsors wanted to get involved. And that is now where we are.  And thanks to Fat Face we can ice this cake”
