Irish Windsurfing Association Announces Continued Partnership with O’Neill
The Irish Windsurfing Association (IWA) is pleased to announce that O’Neill, makers of Irish windsurfing’s most popular ranges of wetsuits, has agreed to continue its support for the association by sponsoring the IWA National Wavesailing Championships for 2007.
Daniel Macaulay, Marketing Manager (Europe) for O’Neill International, said that the company was very pleased to have been partnered with the IWA in 2006 and it had been delighted with the standard of organisation of the events and, in particular, with the increased participation. The improvement in the standard of competition, particularly from the younger entrants, was evident and also the IWA’s investment in training for judges augured well for the future of the sport here.
Thanking O’Neill for its continued and improved support, IWA President Cathal Kavanagh said that the deal would not only provide welcome support for the event organisers but would also allow the IWA to continue its focus on improving administration and judging standards at Wave events. The association was keen to attract competitors from outside Ireland to its events and the partnership with an internationally recognised brand as O’Neill will assist in that.
Details of the O’Neill Wavesailing Championship events have not yet been finalised and they will be available on the IWA website, www.sailing.ie/windsurf, shortly.
