A cautionary tale from Steve Jones:
Just to drop you a line so that other windsurfers can be warned. The thieves
that have been operating in Poole may have moved (or expanded) to Weymouth.
My van was stolen (a white LWB VW Transporter, R597 YJN) from the nature reserve
car park off Chesil Beach Road, Portland Harbour this Saturday (the 8th Sept).
The thieves were obviously watching where I put my keys, got them and took the
van along with all the contents. I believe there have been a number of other
thefts (three vehicles stolen) from the same car park over the summer. Obviously,
if anyone sees the van (it has/had distinctive silver bars attached to the roof
and has a wooden wetbox, bed etc. in the back) or any of the gear (largely a
selection of Gaastra Freewave sails), Weymouth Police are dealing with the matter
and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ed Note: Don’t leave your keys on your car wheel!! The thieves know
all about this time-honoured ‘hiding place’. Get a key pouch from AQUAPAC and
take them with you.
