24-HOUR WINDSURFING MARATHON

24 HOUR WINDSURFING MARATHON

On Saturday 2 June at 12 noon the windsurfing club “LOCH INSH MONSTERS” will attempt to complete 24 hours of non-stop windsurfing.  The event will take place from the beach at Loch Insh Watersports based at Kincraig, five miles south of Aviemore.

The club is the only windsurfing club in the Highlands and is affiliated to the Royal Yachting Association (RYA).

The club has primarily been formed to provide an opportunity for children and teenagers to take up windsurfing.  The club coach is RYA qualified Jonny Freshwater, an extremely experienced and accomplished windsurfer.

The club needs to raise £10000 to purchase equipment for the members and we are hopeful the sponsorship raised will go a long way to achieving this target.

We are hoping to attract a lot of interest over the two days, and while the kids are on the water visitors to Loch Insh can become involved in the many attractions.  There will be a BBQ on the beach selling burgers and hot dogs with all proceeds going to swell the equipment fund.  There will be a licensed bar, full catering at the Watersport Centre and the chance to take part in all of the watersports on offer.  There is canoeing, kayaking, sailing and for those who wish to try windsurfing, Loch Insh Watersports will be providing 1 hour taster sessions with full instruction and all equipment provided!

This will be a great event for the entire family, and be particularly good for those who want to experience watersports.  We are hoping to get a party atmosphere going so come and give the kids your support and cheer them on through the night!

Donations will be accepted by cash or cheque on the day.  Alternatively donations can be sent to the Treasurer at “Culbruach”, Dunachton Road, Kincraig PH21 1QE.  Please make cheques payable to LOCH INSH MONSTERS.

Anybody wishing to join the club or just obtain further information can talk to any members present on the day.

We hope the media will share our enthusiasm for this Highland community event and provide exposure to help advertise it as well as attending during the 2 & 3 June.
