The Corona Extra PWA World Cup ’07 – Day Six
It’s all down to the wire in Scotland as the 2007 world wave sailing title hangs in the balance on eve of the final day of the season.
Tiree teased once again today as the forecasts failed to deliver suitable wind and surf.
After the most epic wave sailing season in recent memory the race for the 2007 title is running short of time.
Tour runner-up Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / Simmer) of Spain desperately needs to win the event outright to lift the trophy despite the fact he’s topped the podium once more than the leading rider Kauli Seadi (Quatro / Naish) of Brazil.
Adding to the tension the pair are seeded in the same side of the draw, and, if they both play to form, are headed for an almighty quarter-final clash.
But even if Fernandez knocks the 2005 world champ out he must still march onwards and win the event overall to claim the 2007 crown.
Forecasts all indicate suitable strength wind to finish the season in style, but after a week of tantalising predictions vanishing into thin air; no-one’s banking on the weathermen’s word.
First call tomorrow is at 07.45 for a first possible start of 08.45
