JÄGERMEISTER WAVE RIDERZ – 2ND EDITION
The second edition of the Jägermeister Wave Riderz event is coming closer and closer. The concept of the event remains the same with the unique combination of a contest and a trip. For the riders this is the ultimate combination. But this time the travelling doesn’t go by boat as last year with the trip to Vlieland. On the 17th of October the big Jägermeister rockstyle bus will lead the way for one week to the locations with the best predictions for wind and wave. On board and in the campers behind it are a group of the best dutch windsurfers. Special guest is French worldcup rider Thomas Traversa. The destination will be somewhere between Denmark and France.
At the Jägermeister Wave Riderz there will be two disciplines for the windsurfers; Big Air & Waveriding. In normal contest these disciplines are judged together, but at the Jägermeister Wave Riderz it are separate disciplines. At the wave contest the best waverides count. At the Big Air contest, the riders will be judged on height, air time and style.
During the event the best 3 riders in each discipline will be selected by the judges. Then the event continues in the virtual world of the internet. Then the public can play for judge after watching the movies of these riders and vote for their winners on www.riderz.tv. After that the final podium positions of the riders are a mix of the results of the judges and the internet voting.
Partymaster Kevin Mevissen and the tallest worldcup rider Martin “Lampie” ten Hoeve will battle with the other dutch wave riders for the top 3 positions. Of course Thomas Traversa will try to make it hard for the dutchies. Kevin Mevissen was the best rall rider last year with a 1st in the Big Air and a 2nd in waveriding. He will be very eager to be on top again this edition.
Next to the action on the water there will be some serious action in the bar at night. The windsurfers have to keep their reputation on high standards. They did their best last year on Vlieland with a four night of explosive parties.
