FREESTYLE PRO KIDS EUROPE 2008

Porto Pollo, Sardinia, Italy – July 6-13th

We’re proud to announce the first ever Freestyle Pro Kids Europe, which will take place in Italy, 6-13 July 2008. This is the best opportunity for ambitious freestylers to show their skills in a all-European easy to access contest.

Location

The event will take place in Porto Pollo, Northern Sardinia. Porto Pollo is the windiest salt-water spot in Italy, and probably one of the most highly regarded windsurfing locations in the world. Since the beginning of the sport of windsurfing Port Pollo has been a real Mecca for windsurfers from all over Europe, and it’s the natural location to host the first  Freestyle Pro Kids Europe.

The reputation of Porto Pollo is due to the famous Mistral, the strong north-westerly wind which often blows over the clear crystal water of northern Sardinia. Porto Pollo is a real wind machine: the venturi-effect of the narrow passage between Sardinia and Corsica accelerates any westerly wind, which is also supported by a thermal effect in the afternoon. Flat water will grant the perfect playground for the hottest young freestylers of Europe.

And if the westerly winds should fail, we have some alternative spots within a radius of 1-hour drive (Porto Liscia Coluccia, Valledoria, Murta Maria) where we can make the contest with any other possible wind direction.

Format

The event is a stand alone contest 100% focused on young riders. Discipline is freestyle, the ambassador of windsurfing to the new generations. We will have 4 groups of competitors:

– up to 10 years

– 11-13 years

– 14-15 years

– 16-17 years

The contest is open to both male and female riders, which will compete in separate ladders.

As part of the entertainment, we will also have a Gemini Cup (Gemini is the new Starboard tandem-board), with team made of 1 adult + 1 prokid.
