Date: 24 January 2002

The Boracay Funboard Cup, the fourth event on the Adecco Asian Windsurfing Tour,

Presented by Foster's, ended today on Bulabog Beach. After four previous days

of racing in wind speeds of up to 34 knots, the wind finally gave out and there

was no action on the beach today. The main event is the downwind slalom and

seven full rounds of slalom were held. After these seven rounds it was Australia's

Robbie Radis that takes the title of Champion. In the end Radis was comfortably

clear of Korea's Sung Soo Yoon who pushed compatriot Suh Yong Kuen back into

third by just one point. Fourth and only two points further back was yet another

Korean Hae Kwang Youn. Top filipino sailor was Manny Cabili who finished well

in fifth.

Says Robbie Radis "This is one of my favourites on the Adecco AWT.

The island is beautiful and the people welcome you like you're family. And this

year we had awesome conditions. It's been a blast with strong onshore winds

and flat water. This is world class..."

Winning the ladies division was local sailor Nenette Graf, owner of the local

Green Yard Funboard Centre and winning the Masters Division for over 40's was

George Gesner from the United States.

Radis, who also won the previous two events on the Adecco AWT, was announced

the Action Asia Speed Trials Champion too. Yesterday the slalom action was put

on hold and the Speed Trial Course moved centre stage on Bulabog Beach. A day

earlier Radis broke the 6-year-old record with an astounding 35 knots or 64.4kph.

Despite hundreds of runs by the fleet through the course the speed was not going

to be bettered and Radis was confirmed as winner.

Because of the lack of wind over the last two days of the event the Foster's

Forward Loop contest and the Winduro event could not be staged.

Parties are also a major part of the Funboard Cup and the fleet will gather

one more time tonight at Sandcastles Resort after an excellent week of awesome

conditions, record-breaking sailing and carnival atmosphere. The Adecco AWT

then moves on to the Pacific Island of Saipan where the last event on the Tour

begins on February 6th.

The Adecco Asian Windsurfing Tour, presented by Foster's, began in November

in the windy isles of Penghu, Taiwan. The Tour then moved to Kuantan in Malaysia

in January before the third event on Bintan, Indonesia last week. From here

in the Philippines the Adecco AWT travels to Saipan in February for a fitting

climax. Each event on the Adecco AWT is filmed for international broadcast to

an audience in excess of 170 million households in over 100 countries worldwide.

The Adecco Asian Windsurfing Tour is Presented by Foster's with Official Magazine

Action Asia. The Boracay International Funboard Cup is supported by Neil Pryde,

Maui & Sons, Philippine Airlines, The Philippines Department of Tourism,

Asian Spirit and Green Yard Funboard Centre.
