The PWA remembers one of its fallen stars.

4 years ago today, windsurfing lost one of its most popular young sons in a tragic jet-ski accident. Andy Funnell was more than just an up and coming talent on the PWA Tour; to his friends he was a fearless and entertaining character whose mischievous zest for life was mirrored brilliantly in his attitude to windsurfing. His infectious smile and laughter touched everyone he met.

Fearless

At just 22, Andy had already mastered some of the greatest challenges in windsurfing, including double forwards and even the complexities of the indoor pool, winning the UKWA jump ramp contest at the 2004 London Indoor.

For most of Andy’s friends on the PWA Tour, their last memory of Andy was at the 2004 Costa Brava Super-X World Cup, so it was only fitting that those who knew Andy gathered on the beach in the Bay of Roses today, to remember their fallen comrade on this, the fourth anniversary of his death.

The thoughts and sympathies of windsurfers everywhere are with Trevor, Linda and Kara as we remember the happy times we all shared with Andy.

He will be remembered…
