Freestyle is getting more and more popular, especially amongst kids.
This is the reason why JP-Australia came up with the idea of a freestyle event
for kids, and together with Neil Pryde decided to establish and organize the
2001 was the first year for this freestyle event and it already was a very
successful one. The perspectives for 2002 look even better. The YOUNG GUNS OF
FREESTYLE takes place in several countries all over Europe and the kids have
the chance to qualify for the PRINCE OF THE LAKE.
Kids are talented and motivated and enthusiastic beyond all bounds. This means
that there are some young freestylers out there, full of energy for this sport,
who would "give their right arm" for some professional instruction
and some tips and guidance from some World Cup sailor. That’s why JP-Australia
this year came up with the idea to organize a CAMP. We’ll bring some of the
World’s top freestyle heroes to a location blessed by constant winds and together
with professional instructors Josh Stone & Co. will help the kids to progress
and have fun. The plan is to establish, this YOUNG GUNS OF FREESTYLE CAMP as
a regular highlight for the windsurfing kids.

THE INTERNATIONAL FREESTYLE CAMP FOR THE YOUTH
The world’s first freestyle seminar for the young blood. Organized and held
by Mikel Sljik and his team from the Conca D’Oro windsurf center, together with
the JP-Australia teamriders. The list of instructors reads like the ‘Who is
Who’ in the Freestyle scene: Josh Stone, Diony and Colette Guadagnino, Ricardo
Campello, Robby Swift, Andy Pusch, Joschi Markthaler and the latest newcomer
to the JP team, Julien Taboulet.
Instructions will be held for all levels, from Duck Jibe to Grubby. You do
not have to be a pro sailor to participate and benefit. But it may well be the
case, that afterwards you want to become a professional freestyler. It also
can be seen as special training opportunity for all the kids who are already
qualified and compete at the PRINCE OF THE LAKE.
The costs for the 5-days camp are € 230,- including:
- freestyle instructions (on water and land) by the JP World Cup Pros supported
by instructors from Conca D’Oro including video training and analyses - daily lunch (5x)
- a cool ‘YOUNG GUNS’ lycra shirt
- a Conca D’Oro t-shirt
- a one-day pit lane entry pass for the Red Bull KING OF THE LAKE (to meet
all the stars) - farewell party on the final evening
Rental boards and sails as well as accommodation (not included) can be offered
and organized by Mikel Sljik.
On the final day of this camp there will be a freestyle competition, where
you can show what you have learned. This is all about fun but never the less,
the winner is awarded the permission to compete in the RED BULL PRINCE OF THE
LAKE (07. July 2002).
