The world’s best windsurfers will compete against each other at one of the most challenging of UK sporting events, the Tiree Wave Classic 2008. Running from 11 to 18 October, the competition is set to attract over 700 visitors to the island, with a dedicated half hour television program.
Set up in 1986 and sanctioned to World Cup level in 2007, the competition showcases Scotland as a world-class events destination. Tiree’s rugged coastline, superb waves and £5000 prize fund will provide the riskiest and most adventurous challenge yet for windsurfing’s elite competitors.
The last day of competition is Friday 17th with closing ceremony that night. The Saturday ferry will be busy as taking home Scottish half-term families which is why two ferries have been organized for the Sunday. Remember the Sunday 19th ferries will be eligible for the 40% discount.
Every competitor (over 18) to get a FREE bottle of Whiskey!
For 2008 The Mitchell’s Glengyle Distillery have produced a limited edition blended whisky for the Tiree Wave Classic. This whisky will be limited to 150 bottles and every competitor over 18 will get one.
