Yorkshire Icons Invite For Connor

Connor Bainbridge, 14 years old, was invited to the Yorkshire Icons event at Headingley on 9 October to welcome home and honour Yorkshire's Olympians and Paralympians. He was also invited to be one of the first 10 young people to take part in the Seeds of Yorkshire Initiative, which is looking to recognise and celebrate the next generation of talented dedicated young people from Yorkshire.

Connor, a recent recipient of a grant from the charity SportsAid, was recently awarded a place in the National Youth Squad. Connor’s next goal is to win a place on the GBR Olympic Development Squad.

The event, supported by sponsors Sport England, Yorkshire Forward, Yorkshire Bank and Leeds Metropolitan University, was a fantastic opportunity for Yorkshire to pay tribute to the hard work and dedication of those athletes who competed in Beijing and a real insight into the future of British Sports as the attention turns towards 2012 and the London Olympiad. www.yorkshire-icons.com.
