Poole Slalom Club Latest

We had an excellent turnout on Sunday at Baiter with about 20 racers taking
the water on sails ranging from 6.5m – 8m. Three highly competitive 4-buoy
downwind races were soon under our belt in gusty conditions and things were
looking good with the expectation that the wind would fill in. Unfortunately
the wind was fickle and in spite of great enthusiasm from all we struggled
to finish only one other race.

It has been noticeable to me how as the year has gone on sailors have been
improving and getting round the course that bit quicker. One thing people
are getting better at is making it away from the holes in the wind at the
gybe marks (which were very apparent on Sunday). The strength in depth of
the fleet was reflected in the very mixed results of the races. It was great
to see that we had several new faces even at this late stage in the season
and things are looking good for the future of Poole Slalom.

Roger Clark will be organising racing this coming weekend.
