Long Distance Race

The Cabarete Classic will include a unique long distance event. We are inviting kitesurfers to compete in the event against the windsurfers. The event will take place the last day of the Cabarete Classic and will cover a distance, heading downwind, of 45-50 kilometers. Only expert and professional competitors will be able to participate in the event due to the variable conditions that the competitors will experience throughout the race.  This event is separate from The Butterfly Effect and The Cabarete Classic due to the extreme nature of the race.  The inscription will be available throughout the duration of The Cabarete Classic.  The rules for the long distance event will be discussed at the Skippers Meeting of The Cabarete Classic. 

Transportation and Accomodation

Cabarete Beach is a 20 minute cab ride from Puerto Plata’s Gregorio Luperon Airport (POP). This is the ideal airport to fly into. If you are unable to fly into Puerto Plata, you can also consider flying into Cibao International Airport in Santiago (STI), which is a picturesque 1-1/2 hour drive by car. There is a wide variety of hotels and condos available for rent in Cabarete. Prices range from economy to luxury. For competitor discounts on accommodations, please contact us via email directly.
