With today being our third anniversary, we thought it a fitting date to announce that The Official Test Centre will soon be opening a second centre! A lot has happened in the last three years, and despite having a few local set backs along the way, the centre in El Médano, Tenerife has gone from strength to strength.
A large factor of this success is down to The OTC’s unique concept, stocking the latest boards and sails of all the major brands so that our clients can test and compare them for themselves. With all the feedback we have received to date, we are confident that the system works and that people can ‘share’ kit.
The new centre sees the concept being rolled out in a ‘home windsurfing nation’ rather than in a holiday environment, and will be based in the grounds of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) – the very location for the sailing classes in the Olympic Games of 2012. This is fantastic opportunity, not only for The OTC but importantly for the sport of windsurfing itself. The 2012 Olympics will be the largest sporting event ever held in the British Isles and with the media spotlight focussed on the area, we aim to showcase windsurfing once again, and show everyone what the sport has to offer.
