Whether you’re into water or wheels, boards or boats, get down to
Bournemouth University’s Design Show this month. Students’ designs and
prototypes this year include a range of innovative developments in extreme,
water and board sports of all sorts.
Designs this year include:
* Scuba air system that allows the diver to change between air
supplies without having to remove their mask;
* A mess-free snowboard "Waxa";
* For sailing, a Main Sheet Control Winch to make the control of the
main sail a single-handed operation;
* A detachable brake system for skateboards and longboards;
* A Kitesurfing shackle-release system;
* A buouyancy aid for use with sailing dinghies.
The annual show offers the business community an excellent opportunity to
meet the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. With free entry throughout the weekend,
the show is also open to the public who can view over 150 designs, which
also include a range of other products, interior and fashion design.
"Students will be ready to demonstrate and discuss their designs with anyone
who takes an active interest in their work" said David Foot, Marketing
Manager for the University’s School of Design Engineering and Computing,
"Visitors from industry often use this event as an opportunity to recruit
graduates directly into employment".
The Design Show will open to the public from Saturday 29th June 10am – 5pm.
It is also open on Monday July 1st 9am – 8pm and Tuesday July 2nd from 9am –
6pm at Bournemouth University’s Talbot Campus.
