It was a great start to the UKWA Cup Series 2004 at Marazion this easter

The steady growth shown over the past 2 years is maturing - last year 79 competitors entered Marazion, this year's entry was 128 .Despite predeominantly light and shifty offshore winds racing was possible for all fleets.

Once again the Junior fleet was the second biggest fleet ,with 11 sailors entering their first ever national event ; the biggest fleet being Formula (55).

But also the 'Freeride' recorded its biggest ever entry - which again bodes well for the future . If the Raceboard fleet had been up to strength (many youths were competing in the RYA /ISAF youth trials, and senior sailors at the IMCO worlds ) the entry would have exceeded 140 .

The racing attracted a lot of interest from local radio, TV and press, as well as a large number of spectators that usually visit the area at easter !

Another success was the training organised before the event (over 2 days ) by the RYA - supported by National coaches Helen Cartwright ,Adrian Jones ,and Oli Woodcock . 40 sailors took advantage of the early training -none were disappointed .Hopefully something that will be repeated later in the season (and next year )

This event has huge potential for the future -and work is already in progress to build on this venue for 2005 .
