PWA FREESTYLE QUALIFIER – CROATIA

Zoo Station, Bol CROATIA – 1st – 5th June, 2004

The PWA freestyle tour kicks off its season at a brand new exciting location at Bol, on the Island Brac in Croatia for a €20,000 freestyle qualifier. Commencing on the 1st and running through until the 5th of June the event is all set to be a smash with sailors who are up for sailing by day and partying by night!

Typically, in June, the winds in this part of Croatia blow anywhere between 15 and 20 knots and generally pick up in the afternoon through to the early evening. The wind normally is a side shore breeze from the right, providing excellant bump and jump conditions in waves up to 1m. Sailors can expect warm water with the temp around 24 C and outside air temp anywhere up to 32 C.

The event was founded back in 1999 and was originally a small local competition until in 2001 it grew in size attracting an international fleet. The emphasis of the event is based around ‘soul’ and the event organizers are out to capture a lifestyle orientated atmosphere, with sailing on the menu by day and lots of rocking parties organized for the evenings.

Direct flights are available to Bol from from Munchen and Zagreb and there is also an airport in Split (45 min away from the island by a ferryboat) with flights available from the whole Europe. From Split the ferry operates daily, every hour from 5am to 9pm.

Event organizers are offering free accomodation, equipment storage, party entry and airport transfers to all competitors.
