PWA COASTA BRAVA SUPER X

PWA, Costa Brava, Super X Event Preview

8-13th June 2004

The PWA Super X tour will shortly be arriving in the Bay of Roses on the
Costa Brava coast of Spain to compete for a £25,000 prize purse. The event
will kick off on June 8th with registration day, followed by action on the
9th through ’til the 13th June. After the stunning success of the recent
Leucate, Super X won by Antoine Albeau (AHD, Neil Pryde) of France, it is
likely that a high quality fleet will head down to the Mediterranean Coast
of Spain to compete in this fast growing new discipline on PWA world tour.

Roses Bay is in the northern part of Costa Brava and is one of the best
areas in Spain for windsurfing and water sports. The Sandy Bay, 12km
across enjoys regular winds throughout the year with predominant breezes
in the summer and the infamous Tramontana winds in spring, autumn and
winter. The past six PWA events in Costa Brava have seen a variety of
conditions including thermal breezes and screaming Tramontana winds. Last
years freestyle qualifier was won by Remko De Weerd (Gaastra, Fanatic) of
Holland who narrowly defeated Christian Sammer (F2, Arrows) of Austria in
a dramatic final on the last day of the event.

Roses is a key area for Spanish tourism and is rife with campsites, hotels
and apartments all within close proximity to the event HQ. Other tourist
attractions in the area include beautiful parks, fishing villages and many
sites with historical interest.

This is the first time Costa Brava has played host to a Super X event and
the location should be ideal especially if the Tramontana winds
co-operate. The mixture of excellent conditions, fun atmosphere and
outstanding natural beauty certainly make Costa Brava one of the favorite
stopovers amongst sailors on the PWA world tour.

Following the mind blowing action at Leucate at the beginning of April
Super X continues to thrive as one of the most exciting aspects of the PWA
world tour. Costa Brava is likely to be a showcase for the fast and
furious action that has been developing since the introduction of Super X
in Fuerteventura last year.

The stage is all set for a thrilling week of action.stay tuned to
