Today has been the first day of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Malcesine / Lake Garda
(Italy) which is the first tour stop for the most important racing series in
Europe. More then 100 men and 15 women have registered for the regatta. You
can find the entry lists attached.
After a calm morning the famous ora wind started to blow at 14:00. On the first
day three races have been sailed for men and women in wind speeds between 8
and 16 knots. With a duration of over 23 minutes for the winner the races have
been very challenging for the competitors. Micah Buzianis (USA-34/Mistral/NorthSails)
from the United States, Patrice Belbeoc’h (F-81/Exocet/Neil Pryde) from France
and Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG-3/Starboard/Neil Pryde) have been able to win
a race in the mens fleet. Verena Fauster (ITA-31/Starboard/Gaastra) won two
and Dorota Staszewska (POL-1/Starboard/Neilpryde) won one race in the womens

with a small surprise. The Italian local Verena Fauster (ITA-31/Starboard/Gaastra)
is leading with 4 points in front of the favourite Dorota Staszewska (POL-1/Starboard/Neilpryde)
