Daily Round-Up 21st July – Battens and Sharks

After a bit of a break from our innovations focus due to the PWA in Gran Canaria, but now it’s back to looking at some brand new things to the windsurfing world.

Over in Tenerife the TWS have just opened up a pretty exciting new sail…

Unboxing North Sails Hybrid HeroThe new Hybrid Hero sail from North Sails Windsurfing International is with us, and we took it out for a spin! You can switch the batten numbers on the sail: 5.0 and smaller with 4 or 3 battens, 5.3 and greater with 4 or even 5 battens! Check the unboxing clip:

We also can’t go without mentioning the terrifying shark attack on Mick Fanning during the J-Bay surfing final… we are sure many of you were watching live or have since seen the footage that is now everywhere. It worth remembering the risks that come with hitting the water, especially in certain places, as well as how lucky Mick was.

We’ve spotted this excellent post by windsurfer Manu Grafenauer and thinks he has a great perspective…

SHARKSI think by now we have all seen the encounter during yesterdays World Surf League final in J-Bay / South Africa….
