Up and Down Day For The Brits

The wind and waves finally kicked in over in Pozo and official competition got underway in the first round of the PWA wave tour. It was and up and down day for the Brits with some excellent performances and early exits.

In the women’s fleet Sarah Bibby sailed exceptionally in the tricky conditions, with few waves rolling through, but just lost out to one of the top seeds Steffi Wahl. Our adoptive females however did make it through, both Amanda Beenen and Justyna Sniady won their heats, placing them firmly in the next round. Fingers crossed for a double elimination dor Bibby to comeback through.

The first men’s heat of the day saw Adam Lewis take on Aleix Sanhelly, it was close from the start but Lewis was just edged out and failed to make it through. Swift looked in control in his heat, moving through comfortably.

A big upset came in the form of Jaeger Stone, taking down vice world champion Alex Mussolini. Many predicted big things for Stone, it looks like he is already delivering.

The wind is forecast to be a little stronger tomorrow, and hopefully the waves will pick up too, so the weekend will be one to spend at home in front of the live stream!
