The first BSA (British Slalom Association) event of the year, held at the OTC in Weymouth this weekend, was a great success with two days of sun and wind and three rounds of racing completed each day. Winner of the pro fleet, James Dinsmore tells us more…
Pro fleet
1. James Dinsmore (Starboard/Severne)
2. Sam Latham (Fanatic/North)
3. Kev Greenslade (Tabou/GA)
Most top competitors were on 8.6-9.6m sails and big slalom boards. The racing was hard fought and pretty intense. The starts were tight with almost everyone going over early at some stage in the event. Emotions ran high after a few tangles on the course and there was more than one visit to the protest committee. Keith Atkinson, who has been away from competition for a while, had great first leg boardspeed but didn’t manage to translate it into a podium position. Sam Latham won his first ever winners final and gained his first second overall on the podium. James Dinsmore took 4 bullets to take the top spot.
Amateur fleet
1. Scott Stallman
2. Mark Ingram
3. Matthew Eddershaw
Weymouth youngster Scott started last season in the masterblaster fleet and has improved very quickly. Definitely a name to watch. And congrats to third place Matthew, a great performance at his first competition!

Three rounds completed yesterday with some great action. Looks like we’re in for more of the same today.
