Danielle Lucas let us know how El Tornament in El Tur went on Saturday…
July 31st saw El Tornament 2010, a great day bringing only light winds but plenty of entertainment and competitions anyway.
Team racing, a light-wind freestyle competition and tow-in windsurfing helped make it a fantastic event. The racing saw fun team races, with some comedy moments keeping everyone excited and amused. It was close but in the end the Oceansource team won both races. The light-wind freestyle made everyone dizzy watching, with guys making amazing moves and putting up a really good fight for first place. Kamal Eid, who works at the Neilson centre in Dahab, took the trophy, Phil Richards in 2nd place. The girls saw a close heat, with Danielle Lucas taking 1st place with Anja Sedlar from Slovenia close behind with some smooth moves.
Following the freestyle competition the guys got out on the water to have a go at tow in windsurfing. Everyone did really well pulling off some amazing moves. Steve Hackey stood out from the crowd, he didn’t get wet, landing every move he tried including a switch chacho and flaka cana-brava!
The end of the day saw an excellent beach BBQ provide by Moses Bay Hotel, prize giving and some rum punch action for the competitors.
Event hosts Phil Richards and Danielle Lucas would like to thank Moses Bay Hotel, Oceansource.net, the team from www.windsurfer.si and all friends and competitors for helping to make it another successful event.
