Formula and Raceboard Taster Session

The LWA are running a raceboard and formula windsurfing taster session on Saturday 28th March at Farmoor. Check out more details below and join the Facebook event here.

For some years now the LWA has been running a Race Training Day aimed mostly at experienced Raceboard and Techno sailors who sail in the LWA Series.

However towards the end of 2014 it became apparent that there were a number of youngsters growing too old for the UKWA Techno fleets who were for whatever reasons unwilling or unable to progress to RS:X. The Raceboard and Formula fleet sailors were most concerned to help these youngsters to remain in the sport and decided to combine together to offer them the opportunity to try out these other boards and discuss their options for continuing to take part in windsurfing racing.

Consequently the event on Sat 28 March will be organised in two parts:

The current Race Training Day will take place as in previous years, with on-land rigging and technique advice, followed by some practice races.

Meanwhile for the Informal Taster Session some Formula and Raceboard sailors will have brought along some boards which they are prepared to lend on an informal basis to those who would like to try them out to see if they like them with a view to maybe joining one of those fleets in the future. You will be able to chat to the experienced sailors and borrow a board – using your own rig and at your own risk, so please bear in mind that if you bend it you mend it! Later in the day, subject to equipment availability, there will be some practice races.

Although you can just turn up on the day for the Taster Session, so that we can get some idea of the number of boards needed we would prefer you to indicate your intention to come by emailing in advance [email protected] to say whether you are interested in trying a Formula board, Raceboard or both.
