Get Involved This Spring

Bray Lake Watersports have a lot coming up the spring, here’s an update of everything they have planed across a whole range of watersports. You can find out more about Bray Lake, in Berkshire, here and more about working for Bray this summer here.

Adult Courses – Give it A GoAs a result of demand and requests from many of our club members we are going to add a new ‘Have a Go’ course to our program.

So if you have a friend or family member who is thinking about getting into water sports but aren’t sure yet if it is right for them, they will now be able to give it a go (without a big commitment) to see if they like it.

The cost for this two hour session is only £30 and includes all the tuition and equipment they need. To make it even better value, if they then decide they do like it and want to carry on we will refund the £30 off the cost of their course. Now there really is no excuse. We will also be running several friends and family promotions throughout the year.

As well as our new ‘Have a Go’ program we will also still be running our regular ‘Learn to’ and ‘Intermediate’ course programs and dates will soon (if not already) be available to view and book on our website. These courses will generally run as 4 hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. If the date you want isn’t there, give us a call as we can usually change or add dates to suit you.

Membership

Our Platinum Membership package is already a great way for you to get out on the water for less, but this year we have made it even better!
The package already consists of:

  • Unlimited hire (this means you can hire equipment for as long as you like, as many times as you like)
  • No extra fee for any club sessions
  • A minimum of 10% off in the shop
  • 20% off courses
  • 1 Hours free private tuition

This year we are also giving platinum members free ‘Intro Session’ (4 hour group sessions generally run at weekends but also possible during the week as 2 hour private tuition sessions) on all the sports offered by Bray Lake Watersports.

Bray Lake Clubs

ADULT CLUB

You can hire equipment to get out on to the water at any time during our opening times, however in addition to this we also run regular club sessions which are a great way to sail or paddle with others as well as get a bit of extra coaching. Starting now on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12pm we will again be running our adult water sport club sessions for windsurfers, kayakers, canoers and sailors.

During these club sessions there will be a dedicated instructor on hand to help you select and set up your equipment and get you out onto the water. They will also be able to give you some coaching out on the water and provide safety cover for you. If you want to get on the water with other people or want the extra confidence of having an instructor about then this is the perfect time for you to come down to the Lake.

As the club sessions run during Hire Happy Hour you will still receive the usual 2 hours for the price of one therefore all you need to pay for is the hire of the equipment or for the launch of your craft, the coaching is free! We aim to start these sessions promptly so aim to be here and ready to go afloat by 10am to get the most out of the session.

SUP CLUB

SUP is still going strong and continued to be popular throughout the winter and will continue running throughout the summer on Sunday mornings from 10am-12pm and Wednesday evenings from 6pm onwards. Usually followed by a trip to the Fifield Inn afterwards to rehydrate.

If you are keen to push your SUPing to the next level or just want to get yourself a little fitter this is the perfect club to join. The club is probably the most active of all our adult clubs as it always happens, regardless of the weather and is a great way of keeping fit for the others sports we have on offer at the Lake. Many of our regular SUPers also sail or windsurf when the conditions are suitable.

Clubs are a great way to build on your skills in a friendly environment. If you fancy coming to a club, but haven’t done any of the sports yet, don’t worry. Book onto a beginner course or ‘intro’ session to get the basics, the dates can be found on our website or by contacting the Centre on 01628 638860.

JUNIORS

Our junior program has now re-started for 2015.

Junior sessions will concentrate on building skills and confidence in your chosen sport with a little bit of fun competition thrown in to keep you on your toes. Junior sessions run every Sunday morning from 10am. Prior booking is essential.

Treat Yourself – You Know You’re Worth It!

We also have a fair bit of 2014 gear including boards, boat and sails that we would love to move onto a better homes in order to make way for some new stock. There are some great deals to be had so why not pop down to the shop and see if you can get yourself a bargain.

Demo Kit for Sale
Over the season we build up a vast range of equipment essential for us to be able to provide suitable equipment for people to hire and for us to use on the courses that we run.At the start of the new season we like to start off with as much shiny new kit as we can therefore we will be selling off as much of our demo and hire kit as we can.

If you have ever though that you would like to own your own board or boat now is a great time to do that. You will be able to find a lot of it listed on our web site but there is also probably quite a lot that never makes it there so if you can’t see what you are looking for give us a call.

Bart’s Bash The Biggest Sailing Race in the World, it’s Official!

Many of you joined us in 2014 for the largest sailing race in the world, ‘Bart’s Bash’. It was a great success and we will be doing it all over again this year.

So why not join us on the 20th September to not only help beat the world record of last year, but to also beat the Bray Lake record too! Sail club on Saturday mornings is a perfect way to prepare yourself for this fun day.

Family and Friends!

We will be running the first of our special friends and family days on the 28th March. This first one will be an SUP session.

The way it works is that you bring down a friend that wants to have a go at SUPing. They pay for the cost of an hours hire and get two hours of SUP activity. This will be a half hour safety and basic skills session with one of our instructors followed by a paddle with you our regular club members in order to practice their new skills. If you don’t have your own board you will be able to use one of ours for free during the session and maybe take advantage of a bit of coaching for yourself too.

Once you come off the water you can both join us for a free burger or sausage.

The session needs to be booked in advance so have a chat with them today and give us a call to book your slot on 01628 638860.
