Hayling Island Sailing Club is once again proud to announce that it will be hosting the annual Round Hayling Windsurf Race, 22 April 2011…

Depending on how you look at it this 15 mile+ plus racetrack has it all.  Flat water harbour blasting, upwind tidal tactical racing and open sea shenanigans.  Longboard, shortboard, formula board, new board, old board, your board, my boards and tandem boards can all come along.

The ethos of this event is to make it inclusive for all standards, as long as you are comfortable getting upwind, down wind and across the wind.  There are effectively 3 courses in one depending on your level.  The ultimate goal is a complete circumnavigation of Hayling Island, taking in both Chichester, and Langstone harbours and associated tidal challenges as well as negotiating the Hayling Seafront.  Two shorter courses are available for those that wish, meaning that everyone can set their goal.

Last year a successful SUP was hosted in conjunction with the event and this year its format will be repeated.  Those of you familiar with the area may not be so familiar with some of the cracking spots that these race take you too.  Entry for this will be found on www.hisc.co.uk but more information is available at www.islanderpaddler.com

The orgainisers have put together a full day of activity.  The club will be open from 8am for all you early birds, serving the heartiest breakfast on the south coast till 10.30am.

12.30pm            Safety Briefing for windsurf and SUP fleets

1.30pm             Start – this may vary with the tidal and weather conditions

5.45pm            A short talk on sailing disasters and some fantastic videos to watch

6.30pm            Dig out your favorite shirt as it the “Hayling is like Hawaii” themed party.  A fantastic live band is booked, beers are chilling
