Is Egypt Still Safe For A Windsurfing Holiday?

Simon Bornhoft has just returned from Marsa Alam, where he and the Windwise clients were treated to a fantastic 13 days out of 14 of wind! Many have been put off going to Egypt of late, with good reason, but Simon seems to be more than happy to still head over. More from Simon:

Here’s Windwise clients, Jerry and Liz Collyer enjoying Marsa Alam

Given the uncertainty of travelling to Egypt in recent times, I have great feedback from our recent visit to Marsa Alam on the East coast of Egypt. The hotels, locals and those in the area that rely heavily on tourism couldn’t have been more welcoming and there was no discernible different to our many previous trips to Egypt. You always have to count yourself lucky to be able to sail in the stunning Red Sea and Marsa Alam is carve gybing paradise, with uncrowded waters making it the perfect environment for our WINDWISE Freeride coaching sessions in September. With 13 out of 14 days with planing conditions, table flat water to gybe on, it’s no wonder WINDWISE clients achieve such great progress there. With a mix of blasting skills, gybing, duck gybing, 360’s and a whole load more skill enhancing moments, it was a great trip. With world class snorkeling and diving a board length from the shore, you’re also likely to see dugons, turtles and rays on a daily basis!
